Farrukh Ahmad : Poet of Islamic humanism

Abdul Muqit Chowdhury : (From previous issue) He says : "Only our callousness and neglect Brought this sea-deep error for us; Travellers wait on shore for our mistake And observe their star and moon sinking down. "(Punjeri) The poet reminds the Muslims of their past days of adventure towards the unknown habitations and unexploited treasures in the earth : "Have you forgotten that first voyage : The ship was sailing Towards the country of unknown flowers; Have you forgotten that emerald-picking dream Dazzling in moonlight in every eye! The ship on sail cut through saline water-- A tireless searcher Tearing the blue curtain of the horizon, Proceeding on and on through the seven seas." (Sat sagorer mazhi/The sailor of the seven seas) The poet is optimistic in the midst of the worldwide dark night : "Yet the Royal Gate of Hera can be seen far away…." And the road towards the cave of Hera-i.e. the holy Quran and Sunnah- is with Himalayan odds to face with : "Road be strewn with pebbles, Many obstacles, seas and mountains, Noontine fiends come near crowling, Vultures cast their shadows over us, We have lost grass green groves and all flowering gardens, Yet the Royal Gate Hera can be seen far away...... All the Royal Gates opened long ago, The full-moon has enchanted the palace long ago. (Sat sagorer majhi/The sailor of the seven seas) No doubt, the path of the 'Gate of Hera' will be thorny, the way towards the destination of Muslim Ummah will be blocked by barbaric imperialist and capitalist forces and evil elements, who suck the blood of humanity and store wealth depriving their 'right' as human being. In the absence of equity and justice under Islamic administration, the deprived section of humanity is easy vulnerable and victim of exploitation. So the poet inspires the caravan of Islamic resurgence, rejuvenation and renaissance : "Deserts to cross on that way, Saline sea-water in that route, Yet halting places exist on the way, Shady trees and fresh water for you." "Then hoist your sail, Then weight your anchor; Now after many expeditions for the goal, You will find the Gate of Hera before you." (Sat sagorer majhi/The sailor of the seven seas) The poet calls : "Rise up with the silent frowning of countless hungry mouths, Rise up and see, how far the morning How long to wait!!" (Punjeri) What does the long aspired 'manjil' of Hera offers the poet and the world? Does it ensure the darkness of ignorance and injustice to humanity being over with a morning where the Khilafat dominates the globe ? The poet believes, the Code of life as revealed in the holy Quran and manifested in the unparalleled character of Hazrat Muhammad (SM), if these reemerge, will ensure humanity equitable distribution of wealth, social justice to all irrespective of caste, creed, race and colour, fundamental rights of all citizens under the shade of Khilafat and peaceful co-existence of the followers of different religions. The darkness of ignorance, illiteracy and injustice will be eradicated and enlightened society of human brotherhood will prevail. And the poet's goal-emancipation of the groaning distressed human community will be one of the greatest contribution of Islamic civilisation as it had been a chapter of unique brightness. The poet thus very humbly salutes the advent of Hazrat Muhammad (SM) for the centuries-old cherished emancipation of mankind, particularly the deprived section of humanity : "Who comes there! Who comes there! A great uproar spreads everywhere! The sleeping lifeless country wakes up, hamlets shake off century old slumber You bring the desired elixir of life to revire the unconscious, O you brilliant light, you bring countless day-breaks along with you. Million of days are hidden within your luminous sparks Siddiq, Osman Junnurain and young Ali woke up with the touch of your light, Al Faruq's deep slumber ends with your free and liberal light." (Sirajam Munira Muhammad Mustafa Sm) The poet submits his greatest tribute to Hazrat Muhammad (SM), the Saviour of humanity. His poem 'Sirajam Munira Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) depicts his strongest belief on the light of Hera (meaning The Quran and Sunnah). Why this firm belief? Because he knew through authentic history of Islam and the sahih records of Sunnah the contribution towards human society, the unique ideals and practical demonstration of those, which created an unique era of welfare ensuring human rights and enabled mankind reach the peak of civilisation. Thus coining excellent words with his unique dreamy expression, the poet composed his greatest felicitation for the greatest Prophet of Islam : "He rises over the eastern blue horizon with a gorgeous hue His presence over the sky always spreads in a moment." "Here he comes, here comes that bird with seven- colourd wings, The deep sky is tinged with an emerald -blue clearness, The deadly night is crippled and gone with this golden light ; Constant waves of rays fill the sky with a flood of light." "You are not a part of the dark night nor a part of dead stagnation, You have opened the doors of the skies and of all the minds, All the skies vibrate in expectation of your coming, O you unhindered light! the earth is blesed with your advent." (Sirajam Munira ) The poet mentioned the names of Khulafa-e-Rashedin in the poem dedicated to Hazrat Muhammad (SM). Because they were the most trusted and worthy successors of Rasulullah, who carried on the welfare-administration of Khilafat and created a society (including other religious communities) based on equity, justice and security. Peace was established and prosperity of all ensured.
