Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated

Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest religious festival of the Muslims, was celebrated in the country on Monday with family reunions, feastings and festivities.
After the month-long fasting, Muslims sought divine blessings, peace, progress and prosperity in their Eid congregations across the country.
The main Eid jamaat (congregation) was held at National Eidgah on the city's High Court premises. President Zillur Rahman offered his Eid prayers there which started at 8:30 am.
Five Eid congregations were held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at from 6:30 am to 9 am. Besides, two Eid congregations were held on the Dhaka University playground and south plaza of Jatiya Sangsad (Parliament).
Besides, Dhaka South City Corporation and Dhaka North City Corporation arranged 361 Eid congregations in 90 wards of the capital.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Leader of the opposition Khaleda Zia exchanged Eid greetings with a cross-section of people, including political leaders, foreign diplomats, intellectuals and journalists.
The Prime Minister exchanged Eid greetings at her official residence Ganobhaban from 9.30am to 12 noon, while Khaleda Zia at Ladies' Club from 12.30pm to 1.45pm.
Although Eid-ul-Fitr was officially celebrated in the country today (Monday), Muslims of 140 villages in several districts celebrated Eid on Sunday in conformity with Saudi Arabia.
Claiming themselves as followers of Quaderia Tarika, they started Ramadan fasting a day before the start of that in Bangladesh in line with the sighting of the Ramadan moon in Saudi Arabia.
