Detective Branch (DB) of policeon Thursday arrested eight carjackers and recovered three private cars, onemicrobus, firearms and other valuable items from their possession duringseparate drives in the capital.
Mokhlesur Rahman, additionaldeputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), conducted a drive andarrested the culprits from Moghbazar areas.
The arrestees are Md Gias UddinApan alias Shafikul Islam alias Shafik, 25, Al Amin, 25, Anarul alias Anwar,30, Rubel, 20, and Mahmudur Hasan alias Tarek, 18.
Police recovered one private car,one pistol, two magazines and fourround bullets, three choppers, one knife, 35 cell phones, one iPad, two USsocial security cards, one ATM card, one jewellery set, six diamond rings, onediamond necklace, one laptop, two Samsung galaxy tabs and various other itemsfrom their possession.
Later, as per their information,police recovered two private cars from Uttara area of the capital.
Meanwhile, police on anotherdrive in the capital nabbed Md Abdur Razzak, 52, Md Ashraf Hawlader, 49, and MdFarid Munshi, 40, and recovered one microbus from their possession.
