Huge mobile sets seized at airport

Customs officials recovered 333 mobile sets from Chittagong International Airport  on Friday .
 These mobile sets were brought from Oman through Oman Airlines by a passenger without any declaration . Asstt commissioner of customs Md. Shahidul Islam told the newsmen that these sets were recovered from the luggage . Mentionable that the Oman Air flight arrived Chittagong airport  at 4 pm direct from Muscat.The approximate cost of  these sets estimated at Tk.20 lakh. None was held in this connection. Customs sources said  mobile set is not a prohibited import item and these sets may be released after payment of appropriate import duty.

7 arrested on different charges
 Seven drug peddlers were rounded by law enforcers from city area in separate incidents on Friday.
 RAB forces recovered 10 kgs hems in a dramatic drive in inter-city Goduli train at Chittagong railway station at about 11 pm. Five drug peddlers allegedly involved with the trafficking of hems detained by RAB members on the spot.
The detained are- Md. Biplab, Md. Milon, Md. Habib, Md. Zamir and Md. Iqbal Hossain.
Acting on secret information, law enforcers conducted raid in the express train after arrival at ctg station and recovered these hems packed in polythene packets.  Meanwhile city detective police apprehended two drug peddlers from Bahaddarhat area in front of Madina Hotel under Chandgaon thana in city at about 10 pm on Friday last. The detained drug peddlers are Md. Rafiq and Md. Liaquat.
 A case under drug control act was registered against these peddlers before Changaon thana , sources said. DB police recovered 200 pieces of yaba  from their possession . The detained confessed their involvement of  trafficking of yaba tablets since long and these yaba tablets werebrought from teknaf at a cheap price aimed at selling in Chittagong with high price. A case was filed with the concerned thana in connection, sources said.
