10 oggayan party men held

Detective Branch (DB) of police yesterday arrested 10 members of an organised gang of 'Oggayan' (dope) party from the city's Mirpur and Gabtali areas, police said.
The arrested are Giasuddin Hawlader, 50, Abdus Salam, 45, Jafor Sheikh, 50, Jahangir Hossain, 35, Shaikh Shahidul Islam alias Babu, 36, Borhan Shaikh, 40, Rafiz Shikder, 35, Mintu Shikder, 30, Shafiqul Samadar, 27, and Milton Shikder, 29.
DB men, on tip off, conducted raids at Mirpur and Gabtali and arrested the criminals along with different poisonous medicines, including 50 pieces of Wyet and Lorazepam tablets, 15 pieces of white colour tablets, four sukrol from them, a DB official said adding that these medicines have been used to make people senseless.
During the preliminary interrogation, all of them confessed that they have long been involved in looting people after making them unconscious using the poisonous medicines in the capital city and different parts of the country, he said.
Two separate cases were lodged with Shah Ali and Darus Salam police stations.
Meanwhile, DB police yesterday in separate raids arrested four criminals along with one foreign made revolver, 17 rounds of bullets, eight crude bombs, four knives and 15 pieces of contraband yaba tablets from the city's Dayaganj and Dholaipar areas.
The arrested are Sooter Mamun alias Luichha Mamun alias Joarder Mamun, 25, Raki alias Nadim Ahmed, 32, Rana, 27 and Tupi Mintu alias Atiqur Rahman, 34.
