Meghna erosion takes serious turn in Narsingdi

The erosion of the  mighty River Meghna has  taken a  serious turn in different unions of Narsingdi Sader and Raipura upazila in the advent of the  rainy season.

According to the sources, the fifteen days continuous erosion by the Meghna River rendered nearly 200 families homeless in the two upazilas. The mighty river erosion and incessant rain devoured dwelling and crop of land in the upazilas.

The most affected unions of Raipura upazila are Charmodua, Bashgari, Mirzarchar, Paratoli, Chanpur and Nilokha and effected unions of Sadar upazila are Alokbali, Karimpur, Nazarpur and Chardigoldee.

The 3km road from Chanpur launch ghat to shujat pur area damaged and crops on about 150 acore land fully damaged in the areas.

Meanwhile the water of Meghna river in Narsingdi point are increasing.

Deputy Commissioner of Narsingdi Obaidul Azam and a number local journalists yesterday Sunday visited the erosion effected areas of Raipura and Sadar upazilas.
