The affected upazial are Sylhet Sadar, Companigonj, Kanaighat, Jokigonj, Jointapur, Fenchogonj, Balagonj, Beanibazar, Golapgonj, Daksin Surma, Chhatak.
District administration sources said at least 16 thousand houses, one pouroshova, 5 word in city corporation and 15th educational institutions in12 upazilas of the Sylhet district. were affected and over 500 trees were uprooted at the villages during the flood worsenc.
At least 20 schoosl and colleges, a primary school and a post office at Sylhet district collapsed during the flood, sources added. Joynal Abedin, Chairman of Jointapur Upazila Parishad, said the storm cased extensive damage to houses and trees at 10 villages of his upazila. He sough immediate relief for the affected villagers.
Jointapur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) visited the spot. He assured the affected villagers of all possible help and assistance for their rehabilitation.
When contacted, the DC said he asked the upazila chairman to prepare a list of the flood affected people and submit it to his office. After getting the list, we will take initiative to help the affected people, the DC added.
