‘Budget proposal to plunge country into crisis’

The main opposition BNP on Monday said that implementation of the proposals  of  national budget for fiscal 2012-13 will plunge the country into deep  economic crisis. 
Finance Minsiter AMA Muhith placed the national budget before the parliament of June 7, which is likely to be passed on June 28.
Giving its reaction  formally, BNP in a written statement said that despite expression of lot optimism  in the finance minister's  budget speech it lacks  clear directives to implement budget proposals..
" The budget is neither people-friendly nor industries-friendly and it will make the lives of common people miserable", it  observed.
On behalf of the party, BNP standing committee member MK Anwar read out t written statement on the national budget  at a press conference at BNP chairperson's Gulshan office in the capital .
The party's another standing committee member Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, chairperson's advisers Dr Osman Faruk and Sabih Uddin Ahmed  were present on the occasion, among others.
MK Anwar said the proposed national budget would be burdensome for the poor of the country with the government proposing  imposition of  huge direct and indirect taxes. It will not be possible for the government to implement this budget because of lack of skill and lack of ability, he opined. 
He also said gap between the rich and  the poor will be widened as the government completely ignored the fundamental issues such as prices of essentials and shrinking of employment opportunities.
The BNP leader alleged that the government has been misleading the people of the country by placing wrong and untrue information in the budget. The budget speech already created confusion and controversy among the people, he alleged.
About the opportunity of whitening black the money, he said when the World Bank and other economic forums are not funding  Padma Bridge and other projects because of corruption by deciding  in favour of whitening money the government  has taken side with orruption.
