Workshop on faunal survey and biodiversity research held at DU

Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) run by UGC organized a daylong workshop on Faunal Survey and Biodiversity Research at the Department of Zoology, University of Dhaka on June 24.
Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique, Vice-Chancellor, University of Dhaka was present on the occasion as the Chief Guest. Prof. Dr. Shahid Akhter Hussain, Pro Vice- Chancellor, DU; Prof. Dr. MA Malek, Dean, Faculty of Biological Sciences, DU and Ms Kaniz Fatema, NDC, Project Director HEQEP, UGC were present as special guests. The opening session was chaired by Prof. Fazlur Rahman, Chairman, Department of Zoology.
The workshop had 3-technical sessions and about 65 researchers from different universities and research organizations were present. They talked on suitable survey techniques for faunal survey and accepted techniques for use throughout the country.
Prof. Gulshan Ara Latifa, Sub Project Manager of the project was the chief coordinator of the workshop. In her welcome address she introduced all the honorable guests with the project activities.
As chief guest, Prof. Arefin Siddique laid emphasis on conserving the biodiversity of the country for greater the national interest.
He also advised the stakeholders to take move to establish a National Biodiversity Conservation Authority for the proper management and conservation of the flora and fauna.
