‘Go Green with ICT’ ends

With the slogan 'Go Green With ICT', the eight-day-long exhibition of information and communication technology 'Digital ICT Fair- 2011',organised by the Shop Owners' Association of Elephant Road's Multiplan Centre ended on Monday.
Thousands of tech-friendly people from different corners of the city visited the fair where office mechanization, latest PCs and laptops, mobile phones, multimedia devices and digital products were displayed.
According to the organisers, about 450 companies took part in the event with their latest products including laptops, notebook, digital camera, computer monitor, television card, pen drive and memory card etc. Telecom Company Citycell was platinum sponsor of this event while acer, Avira, Fujitsu, Hi-tech, MacGreen, SP Silicon Power and Verico were the co-sponsor of this ICT extravaganza.
Different participant IT companies offered exclusive offers on the occasion of the fair which included pen drives, internet modems, t-shirts and 5 to 30 per cent waiver on the price of the product-lines.
While visiting different stores of the fair, Rezaul Karim, a BBA student of Dhaka University expressed his satisfaction over the showcasing of latest technology and special waiver on this occasion.
After buying a notebook, he said, "I was planning to buy a notebook for last few months and this fair appeared as a blessings for me as I got it with a reduced price."
Besides the showcasing of the latest gadgets, the fair also included seminars on ICT, debate contest, art competition for children, gaming contest, quiz competition, blood donation, raffle draw, cultural presentation and displaying new technologies through the choreography of model girls.
With a view to entertain the visitors of the fair, Computer Source organized a DJ party on the 14th floor of Multiplan Centre on 25th December, the 7th day of the festival. Earlier on 23rd December, an art competition for the children was held in the fair premises, which added an extra flavour to the fair as it drew huge number children to visit the fair.
On the third day of the festival, a debate contest on the topic 'Green ICT can save us from natural disaster' was held where four debate teams from Residential Model School and College, Notoredam College, Imperial College and Adamjee Cantt College took part in the contest.
Curtail of the fair fell on Monday while the organisers expressed their satisfaction over the number of visitors as they successfully stirred the city dwellers to get connect with the most up-to-date technologies of the world.
