Exhibition on heritage architecture in city

An exhibition showcasing the heritage architecture of 17Asian countries was held at the Nalini Kanta Bhattashali Hall of the National Museum in the city’s Shahbagh arearecently.   Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moniinaugurated the exhibition as chief guest, while members of the diplomaticcorps, professionals, researchers and representatives of the socio-culturalorganisations, among others, were present on the occasion.

The Foreign Minister, who was the chief guest in theinaugural session, also unveiled ARCASIA HERITAGE- a publication by ArchitectsRegional Council of Asia (ARCASIA).

Welcoming the initiative, jointly organised by the Institute of Architects, Bangladesh (IAB) and theMinistry of Foreign Affairs, Dr Dipu Moni expressed her happiness to beinvolved in organising the event.

In her speech, she said that the exhibition with distinctarchitectural heritage of the participating countries would help identify thesimilarities and at the same time help celebrate the differences among them. Inthis regard, she pointed out he richness and strength of Bangla culture andheritage, which contributed greatly to develop its own architectural traits.

The Foreign Minister deeply appreciated the quality of thepublication and expressed hope that the Institute would be able to bring out aseparate publication on Bangladeshsoon.

The Foreign Secretary Ambassador Mijarul Quayes gave thewelcome speech, while Architect Mubasshar Hussain, President of the IAB, andother office-bearers also spoke on the occasion.
