Late Kibria’s artworks to be exhibited

Artist Mohammad Kibria, an icon of modernism in Bangladesh, passed away on June 7. Through his pioneering role in our modern art movement and with his versatile creative vision, he has taken our art to newer heights. To pay tribute to the late artist a 10-day special solo exhibition titled "Tribute to Mohammad Kibria" comprising his works from the collections of Editor of daily Prothom Alo Matiur Rahman and Chairman of Bengal Foundation Abul Khair, will begin today evening. The exhibition will be inaugurated by wife Shilpacharya late artist Zainul Abedin, Begum Jahanara Abedin as the chief guest at 6:00pm today. Eminent and veteran artist Qayyum Chowdhury, eminent educationist Prof Borhanuddin Khan Jahangir, art critic Syed Manzoorul Islam, Abul Hasnat will take part in the discussion at the inauguration of the exhibition. This was disclosed at a press conference at the Bengal Shilpalaya in the city's Dhanmondi area yesterday where veteran artist Qayyum Chowdhury, Director of the Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts Subir Chowdhury, Sarwar Jahan Chowdhury, Sr Coordinator (programmes) of the gallery spoke on the occasion. A total of 110 of late artist Kibria will put on display in the exhibition. The exhibition remains open for all from 12:00pm to 8:00pm till July 31.
